健康情報学分野 専門職学位課程2回生 岡本芙美、西川佳孝助教、中山健夫教授、とウガンダ カプチョルワ県Siraji Masai保健局長らによる、ウガンダのエボラアウトブレイクに関するCorrespondenceがLancet誌に掲載されました
 

 
2022年9月にウガンダではエボラのアウトブレイクが起こりました。その中で、ムベンデ県において、エボラ出血熱の疑いのある患者が逃亡したことが報じられました。

健康情報学分野 専門職学位課程2回生 岡本芙美、西川佳孝助教、中山健夫教授とウガンダ カプチョルワ県保健局Siraji Masai局長、Yousuf Twalla氏らは、エボラ患者や濃厚接触者の隔離・治療を行う際に、医療者は患者の価値観や希望を共有し、意思決定をサポートすることが必要であると述べました。

患者さんの文化背景を尊重し、インフォームド・デシジョン・メイキングをサポートすることが感染症のコントロールをより良くする鍵となる可能性があります。

In September 2022, Uganda had an Ebola outbreak. It was reported that Ebola patients fled from health officials in Mubende District.

Ms. Fumi Okamoto (MPH student), Assistant Professor Yoshitaka Nishikawa, and Professor Takeo Nakayama (Department of Health Informatics, Kyoto University School of Public Health), in collaboration with Dr.Siraji Masai and Mr. Yousuf Twalla from Kapchorwa District Health Office in Uganda, described that medical experts need to share the values and preference of the patients and support their decision-making when isolating and treating them.

Respecting the patient’s cultural background and supporting informed decision-making is key to better infectious disease control.
